How the internet has helped society is an interesting question on several levels. There are several areas where the internet has help society. Instant communication is only one of them, the ability to inform loved ones of your location and circumstances. Shopping, bill paying, email and social networking are just a few of the things the internet has opened up for us. Social networking seems to be the big one at the moment. We send information to the internet all the time with these sites. Once we update them, everyone on our list get an update on our status.Confused? Here ‘s a little help . Email is another big one; we can exchange ideas and thoughts in seconds instead of days. Information is the biggest one; we can research anything of interest, phone numbers, addresses, menus and locations in seconds. We live in a no waiting society nowadays, and information is right there 24/7 for all of us. The internet is the key to fixing all of our problems through communicating with everyone in our country and around the world. Answers to these problems can come from anyone at any time and then be published on the internet. This generation has a tool of this power at its finger tips.

Internet addiction is a growing phenomenon in today’s technologically advanced societies. If left unchecked, internet addiction may lead to behavior that can hurt the user, their friends, and even family members.

Internet addiction manifests itself in excessive internet usage at highly inappropriate times. Unfortunately, people with this addiction are willing to risk jobs, family, friends and even their own lives. Individuals with an internet addiction often feel compelled to access the internet during working hours, even though it may prohibited by their employers. Computers are easily monitored in the workplace, thus unauthorized internet access is quickly detected. Extreme cases of the addiction exhibit multiple occurrences of using one’s cell phone to access social networking sites while driving. Individuals with internet addiction can be easily distracted by web-surfing while operating vehicles, therefore endangering themselves and everyone around them. In recent news, a young Florida mother had pleaded guilty for fatally shaking her son, because he interrupted her internet gaming. This story was a tragedy born from an astounding case of internet addiction, which could have been avoided.

Internet addiction should never be taken lightly. Before using the internet during unacceptable times, please stop, and think of the consequences before you act.

There are according to Facebook over 350 Million people actively using the web site. Close to 50 percent sign on to Facebook daily. Twenty percent of divorce filings in the United States cite Facebook as a reason for the divorce.

The reason many families are destroyed can be traced indirectly and directly to social media. There is in many cases a communication problem prior to someone spending all their time communicating on social media web sites. Many individuals feel emboldened by the anonymous nature of the Internet. There is no doubt that people have used social media web sites to facilitate affairs or so called one-night stands. Many experts believe the affairs would happen regardless of social media. Social media, according to some are simply another means to do what they are already inclined to do.

Families can be destroyed because of lack of attention to the relationship. Relationships do not fare well on autopilot. Attention given to an online venue is the time taken away from the relationship. There are things that need attention around the house that are neglected because of the addiction as some call it to social web sites. Individuals feel the need to tell others and in many cases complete strangers about their day. These individuals feel for whatever reason they cannot tell their partners, spouses or families.

People need an outlet to talk through problems. Many times their partner or spouses have heard it all before. Everyone has problems and those problems to an individual are significant problems. To spouses and partners many times the problems are categorized as petty. Online friends do not judge or categorize the problems as petty. Therefore, many that use social media think they have found a sympathetic ear. The reality in most cases is that sympathetic ear is an uncaring ear.

Many also use online media as a replacement for a personal diary. People will say things they think are in confidence. Many times the information is disseminated across the Internet. This of course has caused more than its share of breakups. People used to harbor thoughts, but those thoughts were never spoken aloud. People today for some reason feel they can speak what ever thought they have to complete strangers on the Internet.

There is a lot to think about when you’re looking into buying a laptop, from the color to its clear wireless capabilities. Unfortunately many shoppers over look a number of important capabilities when they are looking for a new computer. Here is a list of mustn’t forget items you need to keep in mind when shopping for a computer:
Weight: This is particularly important if you’re planning on being very mobile with your laptop and it can vary more than you’d think. Put the sample laptop in your bag and carry it around for the minute (with permission) or hold it in your hands for up to two minutes to test out the weight.
Battery Life: Don’t rely on what the store card says, ask the store clerks or even ask if you can unplug the unit for a while. Monitor it for about half an hour to see how fast the battery actually drains.
Heat: There’s nothing worse than a laptop that gets too hot on your lap, and many do. Test out the model by feeling the bottom against your wrist and if it’s too hot now, it will be when you get it home, too.

Going on a camping trip can be a wonderful experience for everyone in the family. A camping trip has to be planned and organized before the actual trip. With organization the trip can be a fun experience for the kids and for the parents.

Family Camping Trip

The first step is to look into different camping sites, make reservations and check for online map services, and get driving directions. Call the campground or park for rules, regulations, requirements and camping fees and etiquette. Plan all meals, purchase food for everyone in the family, and prepare ahead of time what you can. Have a checklist of supplies and check them off and pack them accordingly, inside color coded bags and plastic containers.

Things like outerwear, pants, tops, shorts, tent, tent supplies, snacks, first aid kit, sleeping bags, sunscreen, toiletries, eating utensils, pocket knives etc. are just examples of the types of things that need to be taken on a camping trip. Have fun plan out activities according to what the camping grounds offer. Be respectful of other campers and their property. Always bring extra, utensils and clothing just in case. Bring a cell phone for communication in emergencies and enjoy yourself, have fun.

Do you want to get your family involved on the computer. It is the tend of the future and there is no turning back. Technology is changing and the savvy parent knows it is important for the whole family to know how to use and feel comfortable with the computer.

It is possible with most cable companies to have multiple e-mail addresses. Invite and help your young child to open up and e-mail account to write to grandparents and close relatives. This is the start of teaching them to be responsible about who they send the mail to and what they accept. Check daily to see what is going in and out of their box.

Children with disabilities can use the e-mail account also. It gives them pride to be able to correspond with people they love. Teach them to use the spell check and other useful helps on the computer.

Don’t forget Grandpa. If he is not online, help him with some basic setups and get him to be part of the family e-mail system. It is a lot of fun and it can be life changing for the whole family to build a lifetime bond. Teach your children early the importance of communication.

The phrase “family time” brings about terrible images of stories of grandparents, and relatives children may not know. If the family is blended, these stories may have no meaning for some of the members. Instead, why not come up with a more creative way to spend time with the family? Here you will find just one creative way to spend time with the family!

For the outdoor loving family, perhaps a small scavenger hunt would be entertaining. Mom and Dad will have a lot of fun coming up with the clues for their children, while the kids wait with anticipation to find out what the treasure will be. Older children can help younger children with the clues. This family activity is a good way to promote reading skills, and teamwork for siblings.

Some ideas for treasure could be a homemade coupon for a special night out at the kids’ favorite restaurant, or something as simple as a day without chores. The limits are the parents’ imaginations. This activity also gives the parents a chance to forget about their otherwise busy, and ongoing life to have fun.

Scavenger hunts can be time consuming. To make it more challenging, take the activity outside of the home and into the public. This gives children a chance to think outside of the box, and the parents some time away from the home worries!
